Prerequisites
Admission to a programme of study is required:
- Naval Architecture (850MD)
- Naval Architecture (850ME)
Recommended previous knowledge
Basic course in marine hydrodynamics.
Required previous knowledge
Bachelor in Naval Architecture or Mechanical Engineering
Learning outcomes
Knowledge:
After completed the course,
- the student shall know the main principles for analysing a vessels sea-keeping performance and assessing a vessels manoeuvring capabilities.
Skills:
- The student shall be able to perform sea-keeping and manoeuvring analyses of a ship by using a computer program like e.g. SHIPX.
- The student shall be able to evaluate the results from hydrodynamic analyses and/or model test to an extent where they can contribute to improve the sea-keeping or manoeuvring characteristics of a vessel.
General Competence:
- The student will have a general understanding of the motion of ships at sea and be familiar with the terminology used in relevant academic and professional discussions of sea-keeping or manoeuvring of a vessel.
